Can Persian Cats Live in India?
Yes, Persian cats can live well in India, if they are kept inside a cool and hygienic house with good air circulation. They should not be kept outside the house especially in extreme summer weather.
Grooming Needs Everyday
The Persian cat needs to be brushed every day to prevent tangle formation. Brush your cat with wide-toothed comb and then with the help of a soft slicker brush. The focus should be on the belly, legs, chest, tail, and area behind the ears.
Eye Cleaning
Most Persian cats have stained tears due to the flat face. You need to clean around the eyes with an approved eye cleaner or use cotton which is moistened with water. Separate cotton swabs are needed to clean both eyes.
Care of Persian Cats in Summer
During summer days, you should keep your Persian inside a house. Ensure that there is AC or at least cool ventilation, fresh water, cooling mats, and shade for your cat. Check that your cat does not get into trouble such as heavy panting, weakness, drooling, or red gums.
Food for Persian Cats
You can give complete cat food to your Persian with high animal protein and taurine content. Wet food is recommended to help with hydration. Don’t feed the Persian cats too much as they tend to put on weight due to their lazy nature.

Persian cats are susceptible to respiratory problems, eye discharge, dental problems, skin infections, polycystic kidney disease, and obesity. If you purchase Persian cats, then only buy from ethical breeders who conduct tests to check health. Else adopt a Persian rescue.
Hygiene and Bathing
Depending upon the condition of your Persian cat’s fur, you will have to bathe your cat every four to six weeks. You can use only cat approved shampoos. Keep the litter box clean because Persian cats tend to carry litter through their fur.
